Everything is open. You have an endless amount of possibilities. You have all the choices in the world. All the choices, even if you think you don’t. Even if you think you are stuck. Do something crazy. Wake yourself up. Feel like you are alive. And when you finally feel alive, you should think. Be open minded and think. Think about what it is that you want to do with your life. What it is that you really want to be. Not what you think you should be, not what everybody else says you to be, not what people expect you to be. No, what you want to be. Be innovating. Think outside the box. Invent a new profession. Don’t rule anything out. Don’t cut yourself short by thinking you can’t do something. Be creative. Make your life. Create your future.

"I have noticed that if you look carefully at people’s eyes the first five seconds they look at you, the truth of their feelings will shine through for just an instant before it flickers away."

The Secret Life of Bees

"SEX IS IMPORTANT TO ME. THROUGH SEX, YOU LEARN ABOUT YOURSELF. EVEN DURING A PERIOD OF SEARCHING FOR PORNOGRAPHY ONLINE, WHEN YOUR ANIMALISTIC SIDE TAKES OVER AND YOUR FINGERS TYPE FOR YOU IN THE SEARCH BOXES. ADMIT IT, YOU’RE INTO INCEST OR SOMETHING ELSE THAT SOCIETY WOULD SHUN YOU FOR. I THINK THERE’S NOTHING IN THE WORLD MORE TRUTHFUL THAN SEX. MAYBE YOU’RE A SWEETHEART FACE-TO-FACE, BUT ONCE YOU’RE IN THE BEDROOM YOU’RE SLAMMING HIS HIPS INTO YOUR BACK AND DEMANDING THAT HE FUCK YOU HARDER. MAYBE YOU SPEAK LIKE A WHORE BUT YOU’RE TERRIFIED OF YOUR OWN GENITALIA. I ALWAYS BRING UP SEX IN CONVERSATION WHEN I’M GETTING TO KNOW PEOPLE."

"WHAT IS IT? MY DEAR?”

“AH, HOW CAN WE BEAR IT?”

“BEAR WHAT?”

THIS. FOR SO SHORT A TIME. HOW CAN WE SLEEP THIS TIME AWAY?”

“WE CAN BE QUIET TOGETHER, AND PRETEND-SINCE IT IS ONLY THE BEGINNING-THAT WE HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD.”

“AND EVERY DAY WE SHALL HAVE LESS. AND THEN NONE.”

“WOULD YOU RATHER, THEREFORE, HAVE HAD NOTHING AT ALL?”

“NO. THIS IS WHERE I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN COMING TO. SINCE MY TIME BEGAN. AND WHEN I GO AWAY FROM HERE, THIS WILL BE THE MID-POINT, TO WHICH EVERYTHING RAN, BEFORE, AND FROM WHICH EVERYTHING WILL RUN. BUT NOW, MY LOVE, WE ARE HERE, WE ARE NOW, AND THOSE OTHER TIMES ARE RUNNING ELSEWHERE.

It's so hard to forget pain, but it's even harder to remember sweetness. We have no scar to show for happiness. We learn so little from peace.
