"Psychedelics are not illegal because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out the first story window, psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve phonic structures and culturally laid down novels of behavior and information processing, they open you up to the possibility that everything you know is wrong."
Terence McKenna

"Old George Orwell got it backward. Big Brother isn’t watching. He’s singing and dancing. He’s pulling rabbits out of a hat. Big Brother’s busy holding your attention every moment you’re awake. He’s making sure you’re always distracted. He’s making sure you’re fully absorbed. He’s making sure your imagination withers. Until it’s as useful as your appendix. He’s making sure your attention is always filled. And this being fed, it’s worse than being watched. With the world always filling you, no one has to worry about what’s in your mind. With everyone’s imagination atrophied, no one will ever be a threat to the world."
Chuck Palahniuk

'Because one day, my love, you will realize that forever doesn’t exist. To believe anything else is just wishful thinking - not the good kind either, but the dangerous, detrimental and downright stupid kind.'

“Never was an age more sentimental, more devoid of real feeling, more exaggerated in false feeling, than our own.”
— D.H. Lawrence, Lady Chatterley’s Lover

“There is always something ridiculous about the emotions of people whom one has ceased to love.”
— Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray

"I’m not sentimental—i’m as romantic as you are. the idea, you know, is that the sentimental person thinks things will last—the romantic person has a desperate confidence that they won’t."
-F. Scott Fitzgerald

“Closure is a greasy little word which, moreover, describes a nonexistent condition. The truth, Venus, is that nobody gets over anything.”
— Martin Amis, House of Meetings
“He gave her a bright fake smile; so much of life was a putting off of unhappiness for another time. Nothing was ever lost by delay. He had a dim idea that perhaps if one delayed long enough, things were taken out of one’s hands altogether by death.”
— Graham Greene, The Heart of the Matter

"...and when at last you find someone to whom you feel you can pour out your soul, you stop in shock at the words you utter— they are so rusty, so ugly, so meaningless and feeble from being kept in the small cramped dark inside you so long."

Recognize that the very molecules that make up your body, the atoms that construct the molecules, are traceable to the crucibles that were once the centers of high mass stars that exploded their chemically rich guts into the galaxy, enriching pristine gas clouds with the chemistry of life. So that we are all connected to each other biologically, to the earth chemically and to the rest of the universe atomically. It’s not that we are better than the universe; we are part of the universe. We are in the universe and the universe is in us.
NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON

"You don’t want to love — your eternal and abnormal craving is to be loved. You aren’t positive, you’re negative. You absorb, absorb, as if you must fill yourself up with love, because you’ve got a shortage somewhere." - D.H. Lawrence

“I loved you because there was no other place for me to go. We were married because we did not know what else to do with each other. You never knew me, nothing about me, what died inside me, what lived invisibly.”
Aleksandar Hemon, The Lazarus Project
